Residents, staff and families at Fremantle Court were treated to a special surprise visit from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  Rob Alderton, son of resident Barbara Wells, very kindly brought along his replica of the original car for everyone to enjoy.  Resident, 102 year old Joan Bevan said “It was absolutely beautiful and brought back so many happy memories of watching the film with my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.”  There are 6 Chitty Chitties, all used in the original film and most of which are in museums. The original creation is owned by Peter Jackson and is in a museum in New Zealand.

Family Liaison Manager Cathy Charles, who spoke with owner Rob to arrange the visit said “I was thrilled to hear that he’d built the car and even more so when he offered to bring it to Fremantle Court for the residents to admire. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is an iconic film and one of my childhood favourites. It felt very fitting for Chitty to come to Fremantle Court as parts of the film were filmed locally in Turville”  The visit was so successful, with residents breaking into the famous Chitty song and queuing for their photographs to be taken next to her. Rob and his famous Chitty are planning a return visit to Fremantle Court next summer.
