Residents at Wing-based care home, Carey Lodge, have every reason to be merry as they prepare to unwrap 75 specially chosen gifts courtesy of John Lewis Partnership this festive season.
Senior carer Nazia Begum has been liaising with the retailer, which is making the kind donation in recognition of the ‘season of giving’. The home also welcomed children from Little Acorns Playgroup on 18th December for a special visit to meet residents.
The importance of embracing community links and encouraging interaction is key to this year’s Christmas activity at Carey Lodge. This is particularly true of the donation from John Lewis, in line with its ‘Man on the Moon’ advertising theme this year, encouraging people to reach out to each other.
Commenting on the plans, Nazia Begum, senior care worker at Carey Lodge, said:
We’re always keen to develop relationships with businesses and community groups in our area so to receive the offer of gifts from John Lewis is lovely news. It also means we can allocate funds we’d normally put to presents to a host of additional festive entertainment, so we’ll be celebrating in style.
Care home manager, Clare Hedge, said:
We’re thrilled to receive this kind donation from John Lewis and were also very excited to welcome children from Little Acorns. Intergenerational communication and activities can be particularly powerful and engaging for our residents, bringing extra festive cheer. These thoughtful initiatives are a very special way of helping to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and will certainly bring a smile to everyone’s faces.
