Due to popular demand, local charity event, FreFest returned to the calendar for the third year running with a special programme of activities to celebrate The Fremantle Trust’s 25th anniversary.

The festival took place at Rivets Sports and Social Club in Aylesbury and was officially opened by the Town Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Tom Hunter-Watts.

The event included a special anniversary themed bake-off, with star bakers from Mulberry Court care home stealing the show with their spectacular creation. Milton Keynes Supported Living were voted as having the best decorated cake, and Fremantle Court nursing home as the tastiest.

FreFest’s outdoor stage also featured a host of live acts, including local members of Rock Choir, and a variety of musicians bringing sounds from the 70s, country, pop and swing.

The crowds were also treated to vocal and comedy performances from ‘Fremantle’s Got Talent’ participants, including an unforgettable rendition of ‘Hey Jude’ from Aylesbury Supported Living tenant, Dawn Neville.

The celebration saw the launch of ‘Wishes and Dreams’ - a special anniversary initiative created to help fulfil the wishes and dreams of people who use the Trust’s services, which will be funded by money raised at the event.

A total of more than £2,000 was raised on the day by The Fremantle Trust and the event was also supported by Santander and Cohesion Recruitment, who provided volunteers and additional financial support.

Commenting on this year’s event, chief executive of The Fremantle Trust, Steve Flanagan, said:

“FreFest was a great way of bringing our services together as one big community to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We went the extra mile to bring an extended programme of entertainment, music, stalls and activities, and everyone enjoyed a really memorable day.”

Town Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Tom Hunter-Watts, added:

“I’m proud and delighted to have supported this superb event. It is a wonderful cause and my sincere congratulations go to all those involved in making the day a success.”
