The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Tom Hunter-Watts, was guest of honour to mark the 10th anniversary of Lewin House nursing home.

Originally opened in 2007 by Princess Alexandra, Lewin House is located in Aylesbury and provides specialist nursing care for 70 older people, including those living with dementia.

It was purpose-built by Housing Solutions and is part of the Trust’s portfolio of services for older people across Bucks, following the merger of Wing Lodge in Wing and Leonard West House in Aylesbury.

The Mayor joined residents, family members and employees at Lewin House for the special event and he officially cut the anniversary cake. Entertainment was provided by Black Dog Band, who played toe-tapping classics such as ‘You Are My Sunshine’.

With a busy programme of events and activities, Lewin House hosted the launch of the Trust’s ‘Reflections’ poetry collection this year to mark the organisation’s 25th anniversary. Residents enjoy a range of activities, including quizzes, reminiscence sessions and visits from the local nursery as part of the nursing home’s efforts to create strong links within the community.

Commenting on the event, Sue Faulkner, regional leisure and lifestyle manager, said:

“We were thrilled to welcome the Mayor of Aylesbury to join us for all the celebrations. We’re extremely proud to mark a decade of providing high quality, person-centred care in a warm and friendly environment.”

Cllr Tom Hunter-Watts, Mayor of Aylesbury, added:
