Residents, families and employees at Lewin House, run by local care provider and charity, The Fremantle Trust, enjoyed plenty of seasonal cheer at a fun day attended by the Mayor, local Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and members of the community.
1st Berryfield Scouts embraced the spirit of giving by bringing gifts to put under the Christmas tree for residents, as well as singing carols. They have developed a special relationship with the nursing home over time, having visited last Christmas, helped to replant the garden in summer and they even made resident Irene Corless an honorary Akela for the time she spent as a Cub group leader when she was younger.
The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Mark Willis, enjoyed meeting residents and employees at Lewin House, as well as being entertained by bird of prey handler, Brian, and his owl, Ellie.
There were smiles all round and entertainment in the form of traditional games, a tombola, jewellery stands and music from local musician Roger Warner.
Commenting on the event, Lynn Winkworth, manager at Lewin House, said:
The festive fun day was a resounding success. We were honoured to have a visit from the Mayor and the residents were really touched by the special gifts presented by the local Scout group.
The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Mark Willis, added:
I am hugely impressed by the facilities and the team at Lewin House and it was lovely to see everyone celebrating Christmas. Inviting the Scouts to sing carols was a thoughtful idea. Having the young people around clearly brought the residents lots of joy and was such a wonderful thing to see!
