Laura Wood, Director of Care Quality and Compliance

The Fremantle Trust has appointed Laura Wood to the position of Director of Care Quality and Compliance.

With a wealth of experience in senior roles spanning elderly care, mental health and learning disabilities, Laura joins the Trust to oversee its care strategy, workforce development and clinical governance.

Laura began her career as a community nurse and went on to become a strategic health lead in the NHS tackling health inequalities for vulnerable groups and intensive prison in reach work. She has held management roles in nursing services for people with learning disabilities as well as within a complex care centre for older people. More recently she has worked in senior positions within quality, regulation and compliance, where her passion truly lies.

With a specific interest in autism, Laura has had work published on the subject of autism and offending. She also passionately believes that ‘Feelings Matters Most’ in dementia care and recognises the importance of nurturing emotional intelligence as well as professional development within the workforce, to support people living with dementia.

She joins a strong leadership team at the Trust under the direction of Chief Executive, Sara Livadeas, and will be tasked with leading on the development and implementation of strategies for care aspirations, placing residents and service-users at the heart of these.

Laura will also be responsible for all aspects of quality assurance, governance and compliance, as well as organisational learning and development.

Commenting on her appointment, Laura said:

I am really excited to be joining the team at the Trust and hope to contribute to its success and performance. Working alongside the leadership team, my focus will be on supporting and empowering employees and the people in our care, ensuring an uncompromising commitment to quality at every level.
