What’s better than being nominated for a top industry award?  If you’re Blesson Thomas, it’s being nominated for two!  He has been selected as a finalist in two categories in the prestigious National Care Awards 2020. Blesson started work in the social care sector in 2000, before joining The Fremantle Trust in 2010. He was soon recognised for his leadership skills and became Home Manager in 2014. The home is one of the county’s leading nursing care homes operated by The Fremantle Trust.

Blesson has been shortlisted for the “Best Dementia Care Manager,” as well as the overall “Best Home Manager” category and was absolutely delighted to be considered.

“It’s a genuine pleasure to come to the home every day, and to be recognised for these awards is just the icing on the cake,” said Blesson.

It is a challenging time for the care sector, and the role of the Care Home Manager has never been more important in the wellbeing and safeguarding of residents. Increased infection control, managing indoor visits and Covid-19 testing are just some of the extra pressures that managers currently face on a daily basis.

Chief Executive of The Fremantle Trust, Sara Livadeas, said: “Blesson is an awe inspiring manager. If I need to know anything about how to provide great care – I go to Blesson. I know he is highly rated by residents and families and his team are all behind him. I’m thrilled at him being nominated for these awards which he richly deserves! Well done, Blesson.”

Winners of the National Care Awards will be announced at a virtual Awards Presentation held on Wednesday 25th November 2020.
