To help share the spirit of Christmas with the local schools, Chesham Leys invited pupils to take part in a Christmas Jumper Competition.
Giving the schools a deadline of the 1st December, Chesham Leys Activities Coordinator, Lisamarie Spain, sent out colouring templates and invited all the children from Chartridge Combined school, Elmtree Infant School, Waterside Primary Academy and Chesham Bois C of E Combined School to create a design for a new Christmas Jumper. On receiving the finished designs, a group of residents were ready and waiting to judge the entries and then award the winning schools with very special prizes.
Once the winners had been chosen, Lisamarie Spain took each prize to the award-winning schools on behalf of the residents. Each school had their own individual winner with Elmtree Infant School victorious overall as they had the highest “most liked” entries.
Lisamarie commented: “Intergenerational activities are vitally important for children and the elderly alike and it was so wonderful to see the happiness on our residents faces at the pictures made for them by the children. It really does warm your heart, especially at this time of year.”
Resident Irene Hutton commented: “There’s something so special about the drawings of Children especially at Christmas. They put their little hearts and souls into it. It was so hard to choose winners as they were all brilliant. Thank you to the Children for taking the time to make the pictures for us. Bless their little hearts.”
