The residents of Icknield Court were thrilled when Princes Risborough Town Mayor, Councillor Andy Ball, graciously accepted the invitation to attend their Coronation Party celebrations on 5 May.
The residents were deeply grateful for the Mayor’s willingness to join in their festivities, and his presence brought a sense of pride and joy to the occasion.
Councillor Andy Ball actively participated in the celebrations, conversing with residents, sharing stories, and offering warm words of encouragement and appreciation. Andy even treated the residents to the town speech he gave on 7 May for the annual town celebrations.
For Councillor Andy Ball, “It was an absolute delight and honour to share these very special celebrations with Icknield Court’s residents and staff.”
His genuine interest in the wellbeing of the community made the event all the more meaningful. In fact, for resident Joy, “It [was] such a lovely day – everything was perfect, and I got my photograph with the Mayor as a wonderful keepsake.”
Everyone enjoyed the celebration party buffet, which included coronation chicken and royal trifle made by Icknield Court’s Chefs, and some Coronation cocktails – created by the residents themselves. The delectable cuisine was enjoyed alongside the wonderful dulcet tones of Nick Stotter, a local entertainer – personally chosen by the residents.
For Lifestyle and Wellbeing Manager Sue Faulkner, the energy was palpable. She told us, “Holding these events is always a pleasure and such fun. The residents know how to party, and it’s so interesting listening to their stories and watching them actively socialise. The benefits to their wellbeing are unmeasurable.”
Decked in red, white and blue, the day was a great success and brought back many memories for those who witnessed the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.
