The activities team at Cherry Garth received an exciting proposal from Phuong Elsworth of GLG, a company aiming to spread joy during the holiday season. Phuong and her team expressed their desire to organise a special day, spending time with residents and presenting them with Christmas gifts. This initiative was in support of the non-profit organisation, Violet’s Gift, dedicated to providing companionship and presents to care home residents who might otherwise be overlooked during the festive season.

GLG purchased new gifts, beautifully wrapped them, and handed them to residents, engaging in heartfelt conversations and sharing stories. The team extended their stay, participating in Cherry Garth’s Church Carol Service in the afternoon, creating a truly memorable experience for everyone involved.

Phuong expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you for allowing us to spend the day with you all. It gives us great pleasure spending time with each resident and getting to know them.”

Rita, a resident, also said, “This is such a lovely thing to do. I did not expect this at all. Thank you; it really has made my day.” 

The unexpected visit and thoughtful gestures not only brightened the residents’ day but also showed the power of community and compassion during the festive season.
