At Cherry Garth, we cherish every opportunity to create meaningful connections and enrich the lives of our residents. That’s why on the 7th of March, residents at Cherry Garth received delightful visits from Poppies Day Nursery, which timed nicely with World Book Day. The preschoolers, aged three and above, arrived dressed as beloved book characters, eager to share stories and engage with the Cherry Garth residents.
Together, they embarked on imaginative adventures, with the children lending a hand in dressing residents as characters like the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, as well as Greek gods and goddesses.
Amongst the characters were Super Girl, Goldie Locks, Little Red Riding Hood, a unicorn, a dinosaur, surgeon Princess Belle, and Captain America. Margaret and Deryk, residents themselves, also handed out books to each child to help them continue their reading journeys.
Reflecting on the day, Derek expressed, “The children looked wonderful. It was lovely to spend time with them and a pleasure to be able to give them all a book.”
Stacey, a nursery practitioner from Poppies Day Nursery, also recognised the sentiment, remarking, “Thank you for a lovely morning listening to the children’s stories and dressing up with them. They have all been so excited to visit and show the residents their World Book Day costumes.”
