We had an extraordinary day at Chesham Leys nursing home as we celebrated our 10th anniversary with residents, staff, and their families. The day was made even more special with the presence of former broadcaster, writer, television presenter, and stand-up comedian Iain Lee. His visit centred around spending time with his mother, Linda, a cherished resident at Chesham Leys.

In the weeks leading up to the event, our residents and staff wrote messages of congratulations and thanks, displayed on a special “Celebrating 10 Years” board. This board serves as a testament to the strong bonds and cherished memories we’ve built together over the years.

We recognise our dedicated staff’s profound impact over the past decade; to thank them Iain supported by handing out gifts and thank-you cards from the Fremantle Trust. A special hamper was presented to those who have been part of Chesham Leys for the past decade, alongside our beloved resident Sandra, who has called Chesham Leys home since its opening on August 20, 2014.

The celebration featured a delightful BBQ prepared by our talented kitchen team. Everyone enjoyed a delicious spread of chicken, burgers, sausages, salads, homemade coleslaw, and potato salad. The culinary highlight was a beautifully crafted anniversary cake and cupcakes by kitchen team member Alisha.

Adding to the festive atmosphere the singing duo Colleen and Giorgia, filled the day with memorable music as residents, families and staff sang along.

A truly memorable part of our celebration was the creation of a time capsule. Throughout the day, residents, families, and staff wrote messages and took photos to include in the capsule, capturing the essence of our community’s spirit. The capsule was buried at the end of the event, symbolising our rich history and hopeful future.
